Stan Getz, Donald Bird, Herb Ellis and Barney Kessel, Randy Brecker plays with Marc Johnson and Peter Erskine July 14 whereas his brother Michael Brecker plays with his band and guitarist Mike Stern. John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia are together on stage. Monty Alexander introduces his Jamaican band and Paolo Conte is also part of the Festival as well as Terence Trent D’Arby, the American doo-wop, light Jazz, cabaret vocal band Manhattan Transfer, Ben E.King, Africa is represented by Toure Kunda, the Blues by the King of the Blues BBKing who comes back with a band reduced to 8 musicians, Memphis Slim plays duo with drummer George Collier, James Cotton Blues Band, Hugh Masekela, the return of Sadao Watanabe and Nina Simone to Montreux, Curtis Mayfield, Taj Mahal brings sun from the islands with his four new musicians, The Rita Mitsouko, French Pop-Rock band with Catherine Ringer and Frédéric Chichin are the attraction of the July 5 night. Alone on stage, the audience discovers guitarist Steve Morse (ex Dixie Dregs and actually with Deep Purple), Stanley Jordan American Jazz fusion guitarist, best known for his development of the touch technique for playing guitar or Herbie Hancock also alone on stage but playing keyboards of course ! A fantastic performance by Dexter Gordon with Bobby Hutcherson (vibes).
